With the web-based eShipping Tool DHL ShipNow DHL customers can:

• Get a transit time and price quote for your national and international shipments
• Prepare your shipment, book a pick-up, print the shipment documentation and pay for your shipment via credit card
• If you have a DHL Express account number, you can send your shipments as usual on account. Please note that DHL ShipNow is only possible with the 14-digit account number.

No, DHL ShipNow is intended for customers who do not have a DHL account.
You simply pay by credit card for each booking you make.
If you have a DHL Express account number (only numbers starting with 14 possible) you can also register for ShipNow. You can send your shipment by using your account number. We will charge your shipment as provided in your contract. If you send your shipment via your account a payment with credit card is not possible.

You can make a booking via DHL ShipNow at any time. If it is too late to book a collection for the same day, you can book it for the next working day.
This is the default option, but you can select a collection date up to 5 working days ahead.

No, if you use DHL ShipNow your shipment will always be picked up at the stated address. A pick-up at a retail outlet of Deutsche Post is not possible.

Normal kitchen and bathroom scales can be used to determine the shipment weight. Please enter the weight of the shipment in kilograms (kg) and its dimensions in centimetres (cm).
For shipments that are large and light, you can calculate a volume weight. If the volume weight is greater than the actual weight, the price is calculated based on the volume weight. DHL ShipNow automatically calculates the possible volume weight based on the information you provide on the booking screen.
The formula to calculate the volume weight is:
Length x width x height in centimetres / 5,000 = volume weight in kilograms

To change any part of your booking or to cancel the collection contact DHL Express Customer Service at +49 (0) 180 5 345300-3* as soon as possible.

If these problems – for example, if you get disconnected from the Internet – occur before you pay for your shipment, your shipment has not been booked. In this case you should re-enter the information.
If problems occur during the payment process but before you receive confirmation of payment, your pick-up has not been booked. You should also re-enter your information in this case.
If problems occur once the payment process has been completed – i.e. once you’ve received confirmation of payment – you should assume that your shipment pick-up has been successfully booked with DHL Express. You receive a confirmation e-mail containing waybills and other possible transport papers. Once you have entered the town, DHL ShipNow offers a search function which determines the correct postcode. If several postcodes are possible, you can select the correct one from a list.

DHL ShipNow always gives you a price estimation before filling in all the details.
This estimation is based on the postcodes and cities of origin and destination as well as weight and dimensions of your parcel. In case you registered with your DHL account this functionality is not available.

In general DHL Express will pick up your shipment on the day of booking.
Unfortunately we cannot specify when exactly during that day the shipment will be picked up.
It is important that you (or another authorized person) are available to sign over the shipment. There may be circumstances beyond DHL's control that prevent the shipment from being collected as planned. Please contact the DHL Express Customer Service at +49 (0) 180 5 345300-3* to plan a new pick up.

You can print your label as many times as necessary. If you are sending multiple parcels, be sure to affix the labels to the correct parcels.

It sometimes happens that the shipment cannot be collected due to circumstances beyond DHL's control. In this case, please contact the DHL Express Customer Service at +49 (0) 180 5 345300-3* who will rebook the collection for you. Please be sure to mention to our Customer Service that your shipment is a DHL ShipNow booking.

A card will be left at the address informing the recipient that DHL Express tried to deliver the shipment. The recipient can either collect the parcel from their local DHL Express Service Centre or arrange for redelivery.

Yes. You or another authorized person must be physically present when the courier arrives to collect the parcel.

A proforma or commercial invoice will be necessary if you are sending anything except documents to a destination outside the EU.

A proforma invoice is used for shipments without a commercial purpose (such as samples of goods).
A commercial invoice is used for shipments with a commercial purpose (goods intended for sale in the country of destination).

A shipment is deemed unacceptable for transportation, if:

• it is classified as hazardous material, dangerous goods, prohibited or restricted articles by IATA (International Air Transport Association), ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation), any applicable government department or other relevant organisation;or
• no customs declaration is made even though required by applicable customs regulations; or
• carriage would be in violation of a prohibition or restriction on export or import pursuant to applicable German, foreign or international currency law or other laws or regulations; or
• DHL cannot transport an item safely or legally (such items include but are not limited to: animals, bullion, currency, bearer form negotiable instruments, precious metals and stones, firearms, parts thereof and ammunition, human remains, pornography and illegal narcotics/drugs).

If you don’t have a DHL account DHL ShipNow can be used for pre-paid shipments. You simply pay by credit card or Giropay for each shipment when you book it. If you have a DHL account you can register with this for DHL ShipNow. You can then book your shipment via your account number (starting with 14) and we will charge your shipment as provided in your contract. If you send your shipment via your account a payment with credit card or Giropay is not possible.
